Camshaft design for Miller cycle engine
Dúlovcová, Gabriela ; Beran, Martin (referee) ; Svída, David (advisor)
The main aim of this thesis is the analysis of influence of inlet valve opening length and compression ratio on performance and thermodynamic parameters of Miller cycle using GT-SUITE software. Next step was an optimization of inlet and exhaust valve timing with goal of increasing motor effective power. For chosen option was designed cam shaft with regard of kinematic and dynamic magnitude courses.
Automation of cam shaft production
Matějka, Petr ; Prokop, Jaroslav (referee) ; Osička, Karel (advisor)
This thesis is intended on modernizing of grinding operations in production cam shafts of injection pump. Existing technology, mainly special-purpose machines, will be replaced by modern CNC grinding machine. Further modernization will take place in the area of measurement, where existing measuring instruments cannot measure profile of cams. There will be used the new measuring machine, which will manage to measure necessary dimensions and tolerances.
Gear Timing Mechanism for Valvetrains
Drdla, Adam ; Rasch, František (referee) ; Novotný, Pavel (advisor)
The objective of this thesis is to provide an overview of geared valvetrain. In introduction are described individual types of gears and their application in combustion engines. Then, the thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter provides a thorough analysis of geared valvetrain. Also, individual parts of valvetrain together with alternative methods of valve timing are briefly introduced. The chapter then follows to examine the working principle of gears, how forces and moments are transmitted, advantages of introducing helical gears instead of spur gears, different ways of gear manufacturing, gear material selection, heat treatment of gears and common gear failure mechanisms. The second chapter examines pros and cons of using geared valvetrains. The third chapter shows examples of how are geared valvetrains applied in tractors, trucks, ships, trains, cars and motorcycles. In the conclusion, the main advantages of using geared valvetrains are discussed and the whole thesis is summerized.

Slide Bearings for High Pressure Pump
Novotný, Marek ; Petr, Jiří (referee) ; Novotný, Pavel (advisor)
The goal of this diploma thesis is to design the journal bearings for high pressure diesel pump which is part of Common rail system from Motorpal Company. This producer is also submitter of this diploma thesis and as a result it is expecting the reduction of cost price and possible transfer to the diesel oil lubrication. Firstly, there is sum up of issues of high pressure pump by Motorpal. The next part of the thesis describes the journal bearings and its construction, tribology of the journal bearings and also the overview of the materials. These materials are currently being used for securing long time usage and do not require service maintenance during lifespan period. In the practical part there is applied the Multy Body System (MBS) approach with rigid bodies and after that there are used analytic relations, which however do not include impact of movement of the journal center during dynamic stress. The thesis concludes with a comparison of results of both calculations and determination of bearing parameters, which according to the calculations ensure an achievement of hydrodynamic lubrication.
